The East Clinton seventh grade boys basketball split two games to open its season.

The young Astros defeated Leesburg 35-32 on Dec. 2.

Jared Smith led East Clinton with 10 points.

Logan Swaney tossed in eight points and Mitchell Bean added seven. Landon Runyon had six points Isaiah Curtis scored four points.

On Dec. 5, East Clinton lost to Washington 46-44.

Smith again was the offensive pacesetter with 11 points.

Runyon had nine points while Bean and Cody Chaney had six points each. Brody Fisher tossed in four while Curtis and Grant Stonewall had two each. Swaney rounded out the scoring with a free throw.
