Clinton County eateries inspected

WILMINGTON — The following information is obtained from the Clinton County Health Department and is compiled from inspection reports.

Violations are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations are more likely to contribute to food contamination, illness or an environmental health hazard, including inadequate cooking of food items or poor personal hygiene.

The following restaurants or food service establishments were inspected recently:

• Alkermes, 265 Olinger Circle, Wilmington, Dec. 7. Follow-up. The following violations have been corrected: 3.4, 4.4, 3.2, 4.6. The ice chute had a black-pink residue. All equipment must be maintained clean and free from residue. (2nd Notice.) There was a cup being used in the bulk flour container. All scoops must have handles and if stored in the product must be stored with the handle out of the product. (2nd Notice.) There was black mold on the silicone caulking by dishwasher. The vent hoods had dust on them. All equipment in facility must be maintained clean from dirt/debris/mold/rust.

• Kroger, 1230 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, Dec. 8. No procedure posted for cleaning up vomiting/diarrhea. All RFE’s must have procedure posted to cleaning up vomiting/diarrhea.

Critical: The “Grab-N-Go” luncheon meat cooler, the luncheon meat ham and turkey were at 47. All TCS foods must be kept cold at 41°F or below.

There is a bowl being used as a scoop in the chicken flour breading. All scoops must have handles and be stored in the product with the handle exposed. Bowl was removed. Thank you. The sanitizer solution concentration was at 400 PPM in the deli 3-compartment sink. All 3-compartments must have proper concentration of sanitizer. PIC was going to call Ecolab to have concentration level adjusted. There were sections of the deli meat case that were rusted. The temperature of the deli case was at 59°F. The “Grab-N-Cooler” air temperature was 44°F. The Hobart 3-door cooler in the seafood department had large accumulation of ice and bucket on floor catching the ice. The Hobart reach-in cooler in the deli had a large accumulation of ice. All equipment must be maintained in good working order.

• New Vienna 1st Stop, 101 N. South St., New Vienna, Dec. 8. Follow-up. Critical: The pizza in the warmer was at 121°F and 127°F. The chicken sandwich in the warmer was at 127°F. All TCS foods must be kept hot at 135°F or above to prevent bacterial growth. (2nd Notice.)

There was one product in the “Grab-N-Go” cooler that was outdated. There was one product in the “Grad-N-Go” cooler with mold growth. All products in facility must be discarded by the discard date. All products in the facility must be presented without mold growth. (2nd Notice.) Products were discarded. The walls of the dry storage area are unpainted pressboard. All floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and easily cleanable. (2nd Notice.)

• Wendy’s, 1055 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, Dec. 9. Follow-up. Violations corrected: 2.3, 3.4, 4.5, 6.2 The following require improvement: Floor tiles damaged and floor grout missing in kitchen. Floor has standing water and food debris accumulations. Light bulb nonworking in bun walk-in freezer. Facility shall be maintained in good repair. Cleaning and repair company (True Clean) scheduled to repair floor 15th of December. This company will also be routinely cleaning and doing preventative maintenance to floors on a regular schedule.

Follow-up: Jan. 7.

• Papa John’s, 1561 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, Dec. 20. the small black refrigerator (where dipping sauces are kept) does not have a thermometer in side. All refrigeration units must have thermometers to ensure unit is working properly. The vents above the pizza oven were dirty with dust accumulation. All pieces of equipment must be maintained in good working order. There were cracked floor tiles behind the pizza oven. The caulking and wall board around the hand sink was dirty. Caulking pulling away from the wall. All parts of the facility shall be maintained in good working order. All floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and easily cleanable.

• Donato’s Pizza, 880 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, Dec. 20. The bottom/cooler portion of the pizza prep cooler was dirty/food spilt (cheese and pepperoni). All equipment must be maintained clean and free from dirt/debris.. There were gnats flying around by the grease trap. There was an accumulation of ice on the wall of the walk-in freezer and on a box in the walk-in freezer. All equipment shall be maintained in good working order. All facilities shall be free of insects/pests. Grease trap may need cleaning.

• Champions in the Making, 160 Park Ave., Wilmington, Dec. 8. No violations at this time.

• SSCC Patri-tots Learning Center, 1850 Davids Drive, Wilmington, Dec. 8. Everything looks great. Thank you.

• Wilmington Plaza Cinemas, 1275 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, Dec. 7. Everything looks good. Thank you.

• Blanchester High School, 153 Cherry St., Blanchester, Dec. 9. No concerns at time of visit.

• Putman Elementary School, 327 E. Baldwin St., Blanchester, Dec. 9. No concerns at time of visit.

• Speedway, 393 S. Locust St., Wilmington, Dec. 7. No procedure posted for cleaning up vomiting/diarrhea. No sign-off sheet for employees to report illness. All RFE’s must have procedure posted for cleaning up vomiting and diarrhea. All RFE’s must have sign-off sheet to ensure employees know when to report illness. (Left handouts.)

• MacD’s Pub, 1400 W. Locust St., Wilmington, Dec. 13. Follow-up. Violations that were corrected: 3.4, 4.4, 6.1. There are floor tiles missing in front of the deep fryer. All facilities shall be maintained in good working order. All floors, walls and ceilings shall be smooth and easily cleanable. (3rd Notice.)

• Wilmington Nursing & Rehabilitation, 75 Hale St., Wilmington, Dec. 13. Follow-up. All violations have been corrected. Thank you!

• 68 Shell, 5737 US 68 North, Wilmington, Dec. 13. Everything looks good. Thank you!

• Domino’s Pizza, 265 W. Locust St., Wilmington, Dec. 20. There is no thermometer in the bottom of the pizza prep cooler. All refrigeration units must have thermometers to ensure unit is working properly. The cove molding is pulling away from the wall by the mop sink. All parts of the facility must be maintained in good working order. All floors, walls and ceilings must be smooth and easily cleanable.

• Kava Haus, 187 E. Locust St., Wilmington, Dec. 20. Everything looks good. No violations at this time. Thank you.

• Kroger, 1230 Rombach Ave., Wilmington, Dec. 20. Follow-up. Grab-N-Go cooler reading between 42-43°F. Unit may need to be adjusted to keep cooler. Cooler in deli — baked potato salad was 31°F. Air temp in front of cooler was scanning 57°F. Please continue to check temperatures to ensure unit is keeping foods cold.

• United Dairy Farmers, 395 E. Main St., Wilmington, Dec. 20. Follow-up. All violations have been corrected. Thank you.
