New indoor horse arena

While it’s been open for a few weeks now, the Sanctuary Arena at the World Equestrian Center near Wilmington qualifies as a new facility for our area as we enter the new year. There is more development planned for the World Equestrian Center as a major indoor and outdoor equestrian sports venue. The venue is located on the same State Route 730 site as Roberts Arena. On New Year’s Eve, 15-year-old Hannah Trebour of Charlottesville, Virginia rides Pinckney Hill in the Sanctuary Arena’s warm-up area. The trainer, Michelle Mahoney with the Rabbit Run barn of Charlottesville, said it was their first time here and they were really enjoying it. She said it’s nice to have someplace in addition to Florida to go for winter equestrian shows. It’s also nice for local residents looking for a free, indoor attraction that’s close to home. Please visit https://worldequestriancenter.com/events/calendar/ to see the winter and early spring 2017 show schedule.
