Clinton County eateries inspected

WILMINGTON — The following information is obtained from the Clinton County Health Department and is compiled from inspection reports.

Violations are either critical or non-critical. Critical violations are more likely to contribute to food contamination, illness or an environmental health hazard, including inadequate cooking of food items or poor personal hygiene.

The following restaurants or food service establishments were inspected recently and violations/comments include:

• McDonald’s, 1272 Rombach Ave., Wilmington. June 26. Critical: The sauces on the ice cream machine were dated use by 6/26 @ 10:26 a.m. There is mildew growth on the inside edge of the back ice freezer/maker.

Employees working fries and beverages with long hair. All hair must be restrained to avoid contact with food/equipment. There were buns stored under hand sink alongside wall. Water from employees’ hands dripping onto plastic. Condenser of walk-in cooler dripping water that is being caught in pan on top of shelving. The orange juice machine has large ice accumulation build-up inside machine. The wall behind the prep sink/sprayer is dirty and the caulking along the sink has black mildew growth. There is a light out in walk-in cooler. There is trash on the floor of the dry storage area. There is water on floor behind the tea brewing machine. The door and handle of the Traulsen freezer has food debris build-up. The floor by the deep fryers is dirty. The floor under the griddle is dirty and has food debris. Wall beside reach-in freezer is dirty with splatter. The shelf above the grill is dirty and has food debris (eggs). There is splatter on wall behind creamer dispenser.

Note: All facilities must have at least one person who is Class II food safety certified. Employees are now wearing aprons as part of uniform, would suggest they remove aprons prior to using restroom.

Follow-up: July 26.

• Wilmington Middle School, 275 Thorne Ave., Wilmington, June 29. Follow-up. Walk-in freezer has large accumulation of ice around door. Door cannot close properly due to ice around and on door. There is accumulation of water/ice in the lights in the walk-in freezer. All equipment must be maintained in GOOD WORKING ORDER. (4th NOTICE)

A re-inspection will be made on July 20. At this time all repairs should be made to ensure unit is working properly. If repairs cannot be made, additional action may be required.

• Pragati Inc., 59 Gano Road, Wilmington. June 26. The scoops stored in the nut toppings are down in the product. Wiping cloths in kitchen area not stored in sanitizer solution. There were 3 lights out in the walk-in cooler for beverages.

• Buffalo Wild Wings, 143 Fairway Drive, Wilmington, June 21. Critical: Observed gnats at server stations and dumpster area.

Labels on saucing containers for wings are peeling/bubbling. Coating on shelving is peeling/rusting in beer glass cooler at bar. Shelving unit in produce walk-in cooler has rust accumulations. Stickers and sticker residues observed on clean storage containers. Dust observed on fan covers in produce walk-in cooler. Tape observed on stainless steel panels and trim. Stainless steel panels and trim in walk-in coolers has space separation/gaps. Light fixture in keg walk-in cooler is dim/flickering. Cover missing on floor drain below hot water heaters. Walk-in freezer door has rust accumulations. Stainless steel panel was not installed as informed. Level 2 certification in food protection is unavailable.
