WILMINGTON — The Clinton County History Center welcomed over 100 visitors to their open house celebration on May 27.
The event included free tours of their museum, door prizes, refreshments, a ribbon-cutting in partnership with the Wilmington-Clinton County Chamber of Commerce, and a half-hour presentation by Wilmington College intern Mikaela Prescott on the development of the exhibit and lessons learned throughout her time at the History Center.
The ribbon-cutting took place in the Center’s brand new Native American heritage exhibit which features prehistoric artifacts discovered in Clinton County, as well as Clinton Countians who have made significant impacts on the study of fossils or Native American tribes. The room even includes a 10,000 year-old mammoth tusk!
Elizabeth Huber won the grand prize Dayton Dragons pack and Carol Darnell was the winner of a year-long membership courtesy of the museum.
The new exhibit is open for the public and members to view weekly from 1-4 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays.
As a reminder, memberships are crucial to keeping the doors of the Clinton County History Center open. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, the organization relies solely on ticked events, donations, grants and annual memberships to operate.
Individual memberships are $25 and family memberships are $35, which last through March 2022.
