Five Blanchester-Great Oaks FFA members attended the 10th annual Ohio Legislative Leadership Conference (OLLC) last week at the state capitol building in Columbus. They met with some of Ohio’s legislators, as well as fellow FFA members from all over the state.
FFA members at OLLC learned how to be lobbyists and legislators, and were able to put what they learned to use by participating in a lobbying game considering laws relevant to Ohio agriculture.
Members Greta Quigley, Gracie Kaehler, Annalee Miller-Steffen, Olivia Hatter, and Janelle Whitaker had the opportunity to communicate with some of the state’s legislators.
Janelle Whitaker was also interviewed by Ohio FFA Vice President at Large Dalton Mullins.
“It was really neat to see what our legislators do on a daily basis,” she said. “It was really fun.”
Blanchester-Great Oaks FFA members are looking forward to attending next year’s OLLC, with hopes of meeting more of Ohio’s legislators and influencing laws passed in favor of local, state and national agriculture.
