Hurricane JV baseball grounds Rockets 15-5

WILMINGTON — With a pair of six-run innings, Wilmington blasted Clermont Northeastern 15-5 Monday in the season opener junior varsity baseball game on the WHS diamond.

Jared Tackett had four hits, including a double and a triple, drove in four runs and scored two runs to lead the Hurricane offense.

Colton Anderson had three hits while Ian Danku and Talon Shaffer had two hits each. Shaffer had two RBI while Danku and Anderson had one each.

Danku scored three runs while Shaffer, Danku and Brydin Plymire scored two runs each.

WHS batters walked 10 times and were hit by two pitches.

Wilmington had 14 stolen bases with Anderson collecting four, Shaffer three, Plymire, Johnny Gunn and Jace Doyle two each. Danku, Tackett, Kolton Spurlock and Tristan Skinner also stole bases.

Tackett (1-0) struck out eight in five innings while Anderson had two strikeouts in one inning on the mound.
