WHS class celebrates 65th reunion

The Wilmington High School class of 1950 met a Damon’s Party Room on Sept. 16 to celebrate their 65th reunion.

Gene Sprouse welcomed the group with the remark, “We made it.” The response was cheers and applause by those attending.

Dorothy Young Daye gave the invocation, then lunch was enjoyed by the group.

Virginia Flint Shiveley gave the memorial for the 37 deceased members. The five members that have passed away since the 2010 reunion were Kenneth E. Black, Jack L. Howard, Marjorie Morris Sprouse, Carl Shanks, Jr. and June Vandervort Stacey.

Messages from members unable to attend were read. The remainder of the time was spent viewing photos of past reunions, visiting and reminiscing.

Class members attending were Virginia Flint Shiveley, Joyce Floyd Powers, Julia Ann McDermott Stewart, Virginia Poorman Warren, W. Eugene Sprouse, Richard G. Stern, Barbara Williams Bloom and Dorothy Young Daye all of Wilmington; Esther Brown Jordan of Clarksville; Nicholas Vandervort of Sabina; and Delbert Willett of West Union.

Guests attending were Arline Bayless and Eugene Bloom, Wilmington; Virginia Vandervort, Sabina; and Keith Willett, West Union.
