WILMINGTON — The educational leaders at Wilmington Middle School are empowering students to make their school community and the world around them a better place to live by becoming Peace Builders.
Students and staff recently went behind the scenes to thank those men and women with whom they spend only a short amount of time on a daily basis but yet have come to depend on and trust to assure their physical safety and well-being. Student representatives from each homeroom presented the cafeteria staff, custodians, and bus drivers banners proclaiming “We See and Appreciate the Awesome Things You Do.”
The banners bearing the signature of every student and staff member are now displayed in the WMS cafeteria and the break room in the bus garage.
WMS’ Peace Builder’s focus for August and September is praise and respect.
“We look for the good in others and praise it,” said Principal Jeff Sherby. “We show respect even when faced with disrespect.”
Students will continue to work together throughout the year to build peace and to create and appreciate a safe, positive learning environment.
