The Clinton County Health District is excited to share that the 10th “Drive to Succeed” teen driving scholarship has been awarded, according to a news release.

English Club celebrates St. Patrick’s Day at March meeting

The March meeting of the Clinton County English Club was held Friday, March 1 in the McCoy’s large party room. Eighteen members and three guests were welcomed by hostesses Avonelle Williams, Nancy Williams and Thelma Ledford. Tables were adorned in Irish décor and special shamrock-shaped sugar cookies.

Ruttencutter to serve as keynote speaker at Clinton County Reads dinner

The 2024 Clinton County Reads dinner is set for 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 18, in the Wilmington Municipal Building Community Room, and will feature storyteller Nicole Ruttencutter, R.N., B.S.N.-B.C., whose keynote address will be “Storytelling’s Connection to Healthcare.”

O’Dell set to speak about health-related matters at library

Robyn O’Dell, outreach coordinator for HealthSource Ohio, will speak at the Wilmington Public Library, at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 11, about delivering healthcare to underserved people in the community and will take questions about health insurance and other health-related matters.

Center Road to close for culvert replacement

Beginning Monday, April 8, weather permitting, Center Road will be closed for a culvert replacement, according to the Clinton County Engineer’s Office.

WC Streamkeepers grant funds local water quality research

The Clinton County Streamkeepers tapped into a local resource — Wilmington College — in its quest to ensure clean waterways. Its $20,000 grant spanning three years is paying for science students to monitor several local creeks with the goal of establishing riparian buffer crops between farmland and waterways to help mitigate pollution.

Fabrics make hardscapes stronger

Are you tired of fixing potholes and washouts in your gravel driveway? Is your paver patio settling into the ground? Do you have a sagging, collapsing retaining wall? These problems can have one thing in common; they were installed without using any “geotextile” fabrics or “geogrids”. Geotextiles are high-strength fabrics used to restrict the flow of fine particles and contaminants while allowing air, water, and fertilizer into the soil. “Geogrids” are high-strength netting, used as reinforcement between layers of block or gravel.

WC Theatre to present alumnae-directed spring shows

Wilmington College Theatre will present a pair of one-act plays, “Am I Blue” and “Third and Oak: The Laundroma,” directed by alumnae on April 18, 19 and 20, at 7:30 p.m., in Hugh G. Heiland Theatre. Admission is free of charge.
